introduced and first hotline through Metro Commuter Services

Commute
alternatives added such as walking, jogging, in-line skating
and telecommuting. |

BBOP honors
12 organizations as winners of BBOP challenge. |

Metro Transit
offers Twin City employers a one-day $1.50 round trip bus tickets.
BBOP info packets distributed statewide. |

BBOP website
introduced and five commuter bike rides. |
| 1999 |
Super
hero kit introduced. Six bike rides held in St. Paul and Minneapolis
and BBOP day became BBOP week.

2000 |
BBOP work
week at the Capitol. Twenty-four bicyclists rode from Rochester
to Capitol and BBOP pledges were recognized. |
| 2001 |
Eight hundred
B-BOPers pledged to use an alternative to driving alone. There
were 4,400 rides given in the Twin Cities alone using the bus
on B-BOP day. Free bus rides were sponsored by the regional
bus system, given by Metro Transit and other Metropolitan Council
contracted services. Also, there were 30 bikers who participated
in the bike to work challenge. Both Rochester and St. Cloud
held concurrent events with public and private employers participating. |
| 2002 |
Events
held in downtown Minneapolis on Nicollet Mall in front of IDS
and in downtown St. Paul at Mears Park. Bike rides were organized
to meet at each location. Minneapolis bike rides were lead by
the Mayor and several councilmembers. |
| 2003 |
BBOP expanded
from a one-day event to a month-long regional "Commuter
Challenge." |
