Commuter Challenge 2006

Greater Minnesota - Employer Information

"An increasing number of companies are providing transportation benefits as a way to lure top talent, workplace experts say."
- The Washington Post

Best Workplaces for Commuters

How is my business affected by traffic congestion?

Traffic congestion is a top concern of Minnesota residents. Sitting in traffic has a negative impact on our employees' state of mind and quality of life. Congestion also has a substantially negative impact on regional air quality and it affects your bottom line. Being stuck in traffic costs time and money.

If I sign up, what do I have to do?

Participation levels vary, but the Commuter Challenge does not require much time or work. In the previous years, employers had success by e-mailing the project coordinator, putting up posters, placing articles in a company newsletter, and hosting a commuter fair.

Why would my employees be interested in participating?

Your employees will take part in improving traffic conditions around your work site. Employees will arrive to work feeling less stressed. This week long event can increase morale, and motivate employees to do something positive for themselves and the environment. And by pledging to try a alternate transportation mode, during the week of May 16 - 20 employees become eligible to win a prize.
